The following are letters given in private to Judge Miller in a notebook early on the morning of Manuel Beliz’s sentencing hearing. Many of these letters are offered by family members and all of them are composed by Jehovah’s Witnesses. If you notice the way they are written they seem to follow a pattern in how they are composed. Do you think the home office of Jehovah’s Witnesses gave them coaching tips on what to say? That will remain to be seen. Also note the references to Brother Beliz preaching activity, going door to door, as being evidence of how well he was doing. Once again, a few chose to mention that they wanted this twice convicted child molester to baby sit their children. The truth is truly stranger than fiction.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter in regards to Manuel L. Beliz. I am his daughter in law, and I am writing to tell whoever will listen about what kind of man I feel he is. In the time that I have known Manuel, I have seen nothing but an honest caring man who loves his family dearly. He does all he can to provide for them and his family, wife and kids love him in return. I can honestly say that if I for one second believed any or the accusations against him, that I would not be writing this letter. He doesn’t always know how to express himself, but when it comes to his loyalty.

Honorable Judge Miller,

My name is Rolando Beliz, I live in Red Bluff California. I’m writing on behalf of my brother Manuel Beliz. I would like to start by saying thank you for taking the time to consider my petition.

I have known Manuel all my life, he is not only my brother but a true friend for me. He is not a perfect man, like all of us he makes mistakes in life, for there is no righteous on the earth that keeps doing good and does not sin. What I respect in my brother is true honesty, his honesty is the reason he is before you. In my heart I believe my brother hold fast to the truths of the holy scriptures, "he that is covering over his transgressions will not succeed, but he that is confessing and leaving them will be shown mercy."

My brother is a god fearing man who understands that he cannot conceal his transgressions from the all-mighty God or man for the sake of his spiritual and emotional well being. Manuel could have avoided all the consequences by denying his error. He chose to do what was right regardless of the consequences.

I can truly say that he has been a good father and husband to this family and a sincere brother to me.

I conclusion Honorable Judge Miller, I would like to appeal to your conscience that you may judge my brother with the wisdom from above. May you be merciful like the all-mighty of whom King David wrote, "If errors were what you watch O Jah O Jehovah, who could stand."

Please your Honor, reflect deeply into the wisdom God has given you and be merciful with my brother Manuel.

Thank you,

Respectfully,

Rolando Beliz

Your Honor,

My name is Juanita Ramirez, I am Manuel Beliz' niece. I have known Manuel my whole 1ife. As a child, I would go to his home to visit my cousin Melissa, his daughter, we were about the same age, and went to School together, at Othello High School. My sisters and I would go over to their house and stay the night sometimes. We had family barbeques quite often. A lot of the time, they were at Manuel & Kathy’s house. We also went to meetings at the same Kingdom Hall- My uncle and his family always assisted the meetings regularly, and also participated regularly, in the preaching work. I never have considered my uncle a danger or threat to me in any way. He never gave our family any reasons to doubt his integrity. He has a business cleaning offices that my aunt has been running on her own since his incarceration. He has always been an honest business man, and an honest person through and through. He is a hard worker. He has always been. He loves his family, and has raised his children to be honest, loving people. He has always been a kind and generous person, to all he meets, not just his family. Please take into consideration that this man has a family, and has not been able to be with them for quite some time already.

With respect,

Juanita Ramirez

Honorable Judge Miller:

My name is Celeste Beliz, I am Manuel Beliz' niece. I grew up near my uncle's family, in Othello, W A. My sisters and I used to go over to their house and visit a lot We would go over and spend time with our cousin Melissa. We would go over for family barbeques, where my aunt, Kathryn, would bake pies and pineapple upside-down cakes, and my uncle would barbeque. We would go over to their house and spend the night, like most kids like to do- I remember watching T.\/. with my uncle, in the living room. My uncle never tried to do any thing improper with or to me. He has always been a respectful, kind and caring man. All of his children were raised to be the same way. My uncle based the rearing up of his children on the Bible. My cousins are grown-up now as am I. They are as they were raised to be kind, respectful and with a great love for the word of God. My uncle Manuel is a man of great character impeccable values. He knows God's teachings and lives his life by them. He loves his family and his spiritual family. Please remember these good things about this man. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully yours,

Celeste Beliz

Honorable Judge Miller:

My name is Manuel Beliz, Sr. and my wife is Guadalupe Beliz. We want to let you know about the circumstances my son Manuel is in. For us, he has always been a good son, and has never been in trouble with the law, until now. That is why it is so difficult for us to see him in this problem: we did not know it would get to this point. It could have been resolved amongst themselves. We know that we all commit errors. and that we are not free from sin. Therefore, Honorable Judge, my wife and I ask that all the circumstances be considered to see if there is a possibility that my son can be freed. He is not a threat to people, he has strived to be a good husband and a good father. The majority of our family and friends, we are agreed that he should please be given another opportunity to prove that he has strived to be a good person to everyone. Those who know him well would agree that he is not a criminal, that what happened ;-as a mistake that has not repeated itself, and that he has matured emotionally and spiritually, like God wants. I beg you please to listen to me, thank you.

Manuel Beliz

I am writing this letter in regards to Manuel L. Beliz. I am his daughter-in-law, and I am writing to tell whoever will listen about what kind of man he is. I can honestly say that if I for one second believed any of the accusations against him that I would not be writing this letter. He doesn’t always know how to express himself, but when it comes to his loyalty, there's no question about it. Right now, everyone is being very quick to judge, automatically assuming that one person’s accusation must be the truth, even when there is evidence to the contrary, but I hope that the things that you are reading in this letter might somehow help in making you realize what a good man Manuel is. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Respectfully,

To the honorable Judge Miller:

My name is Elias Beliz. I am Manuel L. Beliz's son. I have been his son for the last 18 years.

I am writing this letter to tell you why my dad is a good person. My dad has many fine qualities; one of these is that he is a good listener. For instance if you had a problem and needed someone to talk to you could always count on my dad. Then on top of listening, he would also try to give helpful advice to your situation; his advice would usually help. Another quality that my dad has is that he doesn't hold any grudges in fact he is usually the one that tries to make the peace if he can. One last thing I should mention is that a lot of people still miss my dad and keep asking for him every day.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this letter. I hope that this has helped in getting to know what kind of man my dad is.

sincerely.

Elias Beliz

Honorable Judge Richard Miller

Adams County Superior Court

Ritzville, Washington 99169

Honorable Judge Miller:

Three years ago in your courtroom my family, friends and I gave passionate testimony during my husband's, Manuel L. Beliz, sentencing hearing. Today, we still support, love and believe Manuel. We know him to be an honest, hard-working, reliable man, and not a sexual threat to society. His clean record of the past decade proves this. While out on appeal, he made himself physically visible to the community so that if any one had any concerns they could ask freely of him. He is very serious about being open. We ask that you take these things into account as you pass sentence.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Kathlynn Betiz

Honorable Judge Miller:

My name is Gabriel R. Beliz and I am writing to speak about Manuel L. Beliz. MY relationship to him is father and son.

The reason I am writing this letter is to let anyone know how I feel about him. I know my father is a good man. He has proven himself to me and especially to others. He is very kind, generous and caring. Many of his friends and companions miss him very Much! They miss his advice and counsel he would give them on problems they had. He treated them respect. Many of them still ask how he is doing and want to know when they can see him.

I can also relate to how they feel about my dad. He has been a good teacher and example. He often encourages me to do well in my life and to take care of my family as well as others. His goal in life (which he had before he was even taken to court) is to help others learn the truth about the bible and to give hope to those in need. He continues to do so even while incarcerated. Quite a few men in prison have come out doing better in life thanks to him.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read my letter.

Sincerely,

Gabriel R. Beliz

NOTE: According to court testimony Gabriel and his mother were in the room and aware when Erica was being molested.

Honorable Judge:

My brother is a good man, he does not deserve to go back to prison. I’ve known him all me life (35 years). My brother never touched me, not once. He's a kind and loving person and we need him at home and at the Kingdom Hall. My brother is a very responsible father. My children are constantly asking for their uncle and wanting to see him. I beg you Judge, to please not send my brother to a place he does not belong. We love our brother very much, and do not want to lose him to a prison, where only malicious people go. He's not a monster he is human, just like you and me.

Thank you for your time.
