Thinking is NOT evil.
"..... I think survivors need to trust their own thought process. When we are raised as witnesses we are taught to "avoid independent thinking" as if our own thinking can not be trusted."~DD Everyone needs to THINK. When groups hammer into their victims statements like "avoid independent thinking", you have to know they are up to no good. DD you are right, everyone (whether a victim or not) needs to be able to critically think.

I was raised by a JW single mom who was like Joan Crawford. Although she didn't molest me she was very verbally and physically abusive. I grew up with girls that were molested by their fathers, including my ex-wife. I was in a congregation that shared the KH with Rick Mclean's congregation. I was just thinking that with today's surveillance technology victims could try to hide a small camera to catch the perpetrator and turn that footage over to the police. On another note I think survivors need to trust their own thought process. When we are raised as witnesses we are taught to "avoid independent thinking" as if our own thinking can not be trusted.

I was sexually molested by a JW family member
I was sexually molested by my aunt who is STILL a JW. She denied doing anything to me, but copped to doing it to my sister. To this day, I dont have a good relationship with my parents because they are JW'S too. This happened when we (my sister and I) were little. We are now 38, and 40, and still have issues. My aunt is a hypocrite, who hides behind the bible. I will not get involved with ANY type of religion because of this. My aunt is still a practicing JW. She told my mother (when we finally told what happened years later)that she repented by going to her ELDERS in her congregation and telling them. Obviously, they didnt do anything to her because she is not disfellowshipped. How can you repent, if you haven't owned up to what you have done? I am now in therapy trying to undo what my aunt has made me carry all these years. This was a female predator, not only men in that religion are rapists, WOMEN ARE TOO!!

Thank you
I just recently learned about your organization, and am very grateful for your existence. Growing up JW I experienced first hand the compounded abuse of being molested then shunned for speaking my own truth in a plea for help. I was advised of the 2-witness rule. 20 years later as I write this, coincidentally the JW's came to my door and I respectfully told them to take me off their list and expressed concern for the pedophile paradise. Ultimately speaking my truth and living a safe happy life is my paradise. I always knew I could fly! Keep up the great work! The Healed One

The Governing body blames everyone else for why people are leaving except themselves. Most come here because of what they know. They want support from those suffering like things. I know myself what I have seen. You recognize someone else who has walked the same path. That does not make anyone apostate. The governing Body needs to look at themselves and what they are allowing to be practiced. They pronounce the victim as wicked and the sex offender (Criminal) righteous and in the bible this practice is considered wrong. In Matthew it says this evil slave would beat their brothers isn't this what they are doing? In Jeremiah 9:9 It asks "Can there be stealing murdering and committing adultery and swearing falsely and verse 10 says they stand before me(God) in this house upon which my name(Kingdom Hall has God's name on it) has been called and they say "We shall certainly be delivered" The bible then asks "In the face of doing all these detestable things?" they expect deliverance? Isn't that the same today!! The so called apostates(as they call the victims) would be no threat to them if many of us didn't have to see what is allowed by their policies and practices! Maybe they should get rid of the real apostates-the sex offenders, pedophiles, murderers, robbers etc...In verse 11 it asks "Has this house upon which my name has been called become a mere cave of robbers in your eyes? Here I myself also have seen it is the utterance of Jehovah" They need to remember they can not hide what they do from God! Regardless how much they lie about it! DJB

Mind control and fear tactics
Wow, Alex, talk about propaganda! Can't Jehovah's Witnesses see how that Watchtower article is so very manipulative? Calling apostates mentally diseased is inexcusable, and to think families and friends of former JWs are being told these sick lies about ex-JWs is totally appalling! It is too bad that many or maybe even most current Witnesses won't see through these tactics that the WTBTS is using, and it is so sad, too.

Mind control and fear tactics
This religion is a high control cult-like sect: The Watchtower. July 15, 2011; Page 17: "Suppose that a doctor told you to avoid contact with someone who is infected with a contagious, deadly disease. You would know what the doctor means, and you would strictly heed his warning. Well, apostates are mentally diseased, and they seek to infect others with their disloyal teachings. (1 Tim. 6:3, 4) Jehovah, the Great Physician, tells us to avoid contact with them. We know what he means, but are we determined to heed his warning in all respects?"

Diane Sawyer
She did a special with Jaycee Dugard. One of Jaycee's kidnappers was a JW. In this case there was no WTBTS involvement, and no cover up at the hands of the WTBTS. More of a coincidence.

Hi, WS, I can understand where you are coming from, but if Jehovah should be waited on regarding the pedophile issue, then it should be that way for all the other issues for which JWs meet with the judicial committee, for which they are disciplined. Especially when pedophilia is one of the very worst offenses of all! If Jehovah's Witnesses are disfellowhipped for other offenses, then they should face the consequences for pedophilia. There is a very serious inconsistency going on in this 'religion' that needs to be faced. Pedophilia is not just an immoral offense, it is a CRIME and should be treated as such! It's a CRIME!!! If the elders are going to be quick to jump on JWs for other things, then how much more so they should jump quickly on pedophilia abuse. Children are being hurt, possibly terribly damaged for LIFE because of being sexually molested! I don't know if people are still being disfellowshipped for smoking or not, but while smoking is very, very bad for people's health and so is second hand smoke, it is nothing compared to pedophiia. Fornication is a sin, true, but compared to pedophilia it is small stuff! Pedophilia is a CRIME!!! A crime against the most helpless, vulnerable, innocent people alive! CHILDREN!!! There is absolutely NO excuse for pedophilia. There is NO excuse for covering it up! If pedophilia is being covered up, why not cover up for other offenses, which truly pale in significance compared to pedophilia. Pedophilia is a heinous, horrible crime against PRECIOUS children, who should be CHERISHED and PROTECTED. They can't protect THEMSELVES. It is up to the adults to protect them, to give them the security they so need and deserve! Until something is done to definitely put an end to this CRIME, then I think the media should give all their attention to it and to the crime of covering it up. Yes, CRIME. Because those who are covering it up are ACCESSORIES to pedophilia! Pedophilia is rampant throughout society, in all walks of life, true. However, that doesn't make it okay for so-called God fearing CHRISTIANS to cover it up, especially when they go after people for other, lesser offenses. That just doesn't make any sense at all. Period.

Baptized in 1974
I was baptized in 1974 as one of Jehovahs Witnesses, during the last 37 years I have been surprised a number of times that of the outright heartless actions of some who are charged with the weighty responsibility of being Elders in the congregation. I have also seen the many who are very serious about their position realizing that weighty responsibility that Jehovah has put on their shoulders showing love beyond what is normal for any human to have and those men number in the thousands, very self sacrificing individuals who would do anything to prevent abuse of any kind from happening within the congregations. With that said we should always realize that these are all imperfect men and even the early Christian congregation had bad men in it, one being Judas who served with Jesus yet he still betrayed the Christ as has many of these who are guilty of some form of abuse against innocent ones including young children. It is true that the way things are handled by J,Ws can protect those who are guilty more than those who are innocent, as with any religion, it seems to be that way for many centuries. Is that really an excuse to charge all with covering up, not hardly, give to those what they deserve as individuals or a better way to say it is let them reap what they sew and to those who are sincere their due also. My daughter was molested by a young boy in the congregation in the middle of the night staying over night in their home, you cant even imagine how hurt I am even now, but what is worse is that same young man is now serving in a congregation as a ministerial servant, yet the attitude of those who know is to keep quit about it. So I say, eventually Jehovahs Kingdom will put a stop to it as with all the bad in the world today, and we live in a very sick world! Pray for Gods Kingdom to come and for his will to take place here upon the Earth just as Jesus taught all his followers and always keep that hope before your eyes. Sorry to those who find this offensive but this world is full of bad men and women no matter what organization, yes even Jehovahs Witnesses have their share. WS

Thank you SilentLambs
I am so thankful that we have the internet now to shine the light on the evil ones such as those at the WatchTower Society. Back when I was a kid it was so very easy for the congregation to hide these things. They still try their hardest to hide them, but the brightly shining light of truth is now out in full force seeking to expose these evil ones.

Very good points!! I am a true believer in whistle-blowing and 'making waves'. If not for people who do this, so many important accomplishments would never have happened! Kudos to all these courageous people! And much gratitude and thankfulness! Yes, I second a big THANK YOU to Bill Bowen! It took great courage and integrity for him to do what he did! He deserves our admiration as well as our gratefulness!

Hi, i agree with Gloria Steimen. It's so important to tell the truth, and if in doing so it helps others, then it's even more important.

Thanks to Bill Bowen
Sometimes you just stop to reflect. Can you imagine if Bill Bowen never stood up? Can you imagine if he decided to go along with WTS policies and remain "silent" about the pedophilia mis-handling and cover-up in this religion? Can anyone truly imagine the degree of courage it takes to stand up to something when no one else around you does? I think we all owe Bill Bowen at the least, a huge THANK YOU! (It makes you wonder why the Governing Body would not entertain his clear thinking on this matter. Don't they realize how bad this reflects on them?)

I heard a wonderful quote from Gloria Stiman: 'It's absolutely crucial we see, that in every way truth telling is so important because it helps other people to understand they're not crazy, nor alone. That it's ok and even necessary to tell the truth. Understanding that we need to use what happened to us to help others.' Powerful! Namaste'

To Chris
Please don't be ahamed of your time as one of Jehovah's Witnesses! You believed you had the real, honest to goodness Truth, as most of the rest of us did. You were hooked in by this religion, as so many other people have been. You believed what you were taught and believed that you were doing the right things, because you were one of Jehovah's Witnesses and that your religion could do no wrong, would not teach anything wrong, or expect wrongdoing from it's members. You genuinely believed in your religion and wanted to 'do right' by it. You don't have anything to be ashamed of. Just be glad and happy that you came to realize that this religion is not the 'truth', after all, and that you got out of it! Enjoy your life now in true freedom. Recently one of Jehovah's Witnesses told me how the JW religion sets people 'free'. But, later she was apprehensive because only the elders should be talking with me, as a former Jehovah's Witness about the Bible. It sounded as if she was almost fearful of the trouble a 'sister' could get into for talking with someone like me. That's it, people, especially women, of course! :-) Become part of a religion that will set you free. Free to keep your mouth shut. Red flag, red flag. Spare me this "freedom", thank you. Thomas Jefferson said, "That government which governs best is that which governs least". That goes for religion, too, I think. The WTBTS should learn by what Jefferson said.
