You are cordially invited to the screening of a powerful documentary on the experience of recovering from boyhood sexual abuse.
The documentary, Stories of Silence: Recovering from Boyhood Sexual Abuse, by award winning Seattle filmmaker Ethan Delavan, tells the story of recovery from the eyes and minds of child sex abuse victims in recovery.
Beyond anger, but not beyond the emotional fluctuations caused by their injury, Delavan has given these survivors a forum to break their silence and bring to light their courageous paths through the stages of recovery.
The men in Delevan's film will educate you, challenge you, shock you, frustrate and inspire you as they convey their unique stories with passion and conviction. In the end, as they unveil their journey to recovery, the message is clear: The horrible nature of sex crimes against children cannot be understated. As parents and protectors of our most valuable resource, children, we must continue our work to save them from harm.
Thanks to the National Child Protection Training Center at Winona State University and Delavan Dramaworks, Survivors Network Minnesota has arranged for a screening of the film at the Tau Center in Winona at 7 p.m. on January 25, 2005. The event is free and open to the public. Please contact Naomi at the Center for more information and to reserve a place for attendance. (firstname.lastname@example.org or call 507.457.2890)
