Can you help Silentlambs?
This is the time of year when we think of reaching out to those in need and maybe think of worthy causes to donate too. Many support the homeless, or those in other countries less fortunate. In the XJW community, there are many that expend time and effort to educate and render assistance to those coming out. It is often a confusing world and many can go for years being out and yet not ever really leave the grips of the organization till they come to terms with what really has happened to them mentally. When you factor in child abuse the elements are far more extreme when coupled with shunning, many victims self-destruct in a world they just cannot cope with especially when they think they are the only one.
For the last twenty years, Silentlambs has reached out to over ten thousand JW abuse survivors. The message is contained in our mission statement:
“We at Silentlambs welcome all persons regardless of race, religious affiliation or lack of religious affiliation, culture, economic background, gender or disability. Silentlambs remains neutral on religious issues and seeks to break down barriers that lead to the segregation of abuse survivors from different faiths and backgrounds.”
“We wish to provide assistance to victims who have been molested as children and silenced from speaking out or seeking proper assistance as directed by religious authority. Silentlambs believes education is the key to uniting people together. We wish to impart knowledge and understanding to survivors of abuse and let them know it was not their fault, we believe them, it is their right to stand up to those who hurt them, while providing a forum for interaction, which will help other abuse survivors know they are not alone. Silentlambs stands up for and will defend the right of any abuse survivor to tell their story. We believe when those hurt by molestation speak out, it lays a basis for providing mental and emotional healing. Silentlambs holds that, in part, when victims learn they are not alone this helps them to reach out to others, and helps them take back the power that was lost through abuse.”
“In expanding its mission of unity and positive societal actions, Silentlambs realizes that there is a large contingency of individuals who historically have been left alienated from traditional religious institutions and doctrines. Traditionally, all aspects of life for molestation victims have been seriously undermined by the lack of assistance provided by misguided religious organizations, the injured are silenced. Our purpose is to give them a voice and a place to unite with others and find healing. Silentlambs seeks a fuller life for everyone with the encouragement of beliefs to assist the well-being of the mind and body.”
That mission has remained the same for the last twenty years though some have tried to change it or create personal agendas for gain, have stopped donations and spread lies and misinformation about our work. You see Silentlambs pages have no ad pages to sell stuff, no click bots to take you somewhere to make money, or google ads to secretly profit off your visits to the website. For two generations we have been a 501 C3 non-profit agency that uses the funds soley to benefit abuse survivors. The more funds we have the more we can do to help them; it is as simple as that. We manage an 800 hotline for victims in need, website for education, and blogs to help victims know they have many others like them that have suffered similar stories and that they are not just a “unique” problem, but instead, something that the organization perpetrated on innocent children.
How much do you think that is worth to a victim to find that out?
At the same time, we have helped numerous Jehovah’s Witnesses dealing with molesters in their congregations that have called the hotline and asked for help. As a result over 700 have been reported to authorities. How many kids have avoided being abused as a result? The website has over 10,000 pages of video and documentary information including court cases that have been used by attorneys, reporters, university students, JW members quietly doing research, and thousands of xjws who have found stunning facts of the organization and their cover-up of abuse.
What value has that been over the last two decades and how many news stories and court cases have moved forward as a result?
As the National Director of Silentlambs, I have personally had over thirty people tell me that Silentlambs saved their life. You see, it gave them a reason and hope to know there was a fight for what was right and that wicked men were being exposed for what they were doing.
For those reasons, I offer to you a challenge of sorts. All those years you donated to JWOrg/Watchtower those useless funds that supported the mindless hamster wheel of the ‘World Wide Work’. This year make a donation that counts. Your contribution to Silentlambs directly supports those that suffer so greatly at the hands of the entity that continues to hurt you the most. You have gained your freedom now please, use it to help us assist those that need it find their freedom the most.
Make a tax-deductible donation at the link below to Silentlambs, so that we can expand our work in supporting abuse survivors.
