On September 27, 2002 , 125 abuse survivors from 22 states delivered hundreds of stuffed lambs for victims around the world as a symbol of innocence lost. The march started at Pierrepont Place and Columbia Heights and proceeded down Columbia Heights to Jehovah's Witness Home office at 25 Columbia Heights at the front entrance. We had the t-shirts at the park and were setting up when the park officer asked if we had a permit to be in the park. We had to say no and it was moved to the Promenade, which was much nicer anyway. It is interesting to note that on pages 86, 106,150-151 there are three examples in which children are encouraged to respect policemen and report breeches of the peace. The illustrations are regarding mild misdemeanours that the Watchtower organization says should be reported to the authorities. On pages 150-151 it would seem that cooperation with police is exhorted.

The plaintiff Victoria Boer seeks punitive damages and damges for negligence and breach of fiduciary duty against the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada ( the governing body of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Canada) and three elders of that church. Her claim stems from actions taken by the Jehovah’s Witnesses elders when, at the age of 19, she disclosed to them that she had been sexually molested by her father during her childhood. The plaintiff alleges that she was forced to confront her father with these allegations in the presence of two male elders of her congregation, an experience which she found to be traumatic. She said she was then required to go through essentially the same exercise of confrontation again, this time before three male elders, as part of a church disciplinary process against her father, thereby compounding the trauma. She further alleges that Watchtower failed to properly deal with the abuse by her father, failed to report it as required by law, and directed her not to seek medical and psychological treatment. The plaintiff testified that as a result of the defendant’s wrongdoing she has suffered extreme emotional harm which was for years untreated and which will require extensive therapy in the future.

At one point Jan spoke to an elder/subCO/Special Pioneer that admitted he was an unreported child molester. He said it was ok because his five alleged victims had forgiven him. Watchtower called an emergency meeting on Wednesday for all elders in Sweden. They were asked to meet at key locations for special instructions. The instructions? Shut up to media and disfellowship anyone that does not.

In the spring of 2002, silentlambs was contacted by three different sources who claimed to have connected with people inside the headquarters of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, located in Patterson , New York . These insiders provided silentlambs contacts with a computer data base number of 23,720 child molesters on file there. A Jehovah's Witness has been jailed for 12 years for six rape attacks on a girl.

Eric James Richardson, 53, of Melbury Road , Strelley, used his church-going reputation as a "smokescreen" and created a "climate of fear" in which he groomed the victim.

He denied raping the girl or indecently assaulting her over a period of three years at an address in London .

But at Isleworth Crown Court he was convicted of six counts of rape and one of indecent assault.

A well-known Cascade Middle School teacher who was put on leave last year after repeated complaints of inappropriate conduct with female students is still on the payroll and will be until 2004, when he becomes eligible for a full pension, according to public records The Daily News has obtained.

An elder in the Jehovah's Witness church has been jailed for child abuse.

James Barratt, 45, of Rugby , Warwickshire, a married man with two children, was found guilty of indecently assaulting two teenagers entrusted to him for Bible studies and counselling.

The court heard that Barratt, a church elder, had "systematically" abused two former members of his congregation over a 10-year period.
